APC’ll tackle security challenges, says Ex-minister

Dr Ibrahim Lame, a former minister of police affairs, said on Monday that the All Progressives Party would evolve strategies that would tackle the current security challenges bedevilling the country.
Lame told newsmen in Bauchi State that people-oriented policies, like employment, food security and proactive measures against corruption, would be adopted by the APC to tackle the security challenges.
According to him, the current policies of fighting corruption and unemployment were not adequate in addressing the problems.
Lame, a chieftain of the party, said that it would take more than the army, police or other security agencies to ensure adequate security in the country.
He said security agencies must be complemented by other civic means to curb insecurity.
The politician, however, acknowledged that with necessary equipment in place, there were competent men and women in the security agencies to do the job.
He said, “If the APC forms a government, we will come up with policies that will provide means to fight insecurity in the country.
“We will provide our security men with the right equipment to do their job, create jobs and policies to fight bribery and corruption in a serious manner.”
Lame urged Nigerians, irrespective of religious affiliation, tribe or creed, to contribute to the fight against insecurity threatening the country, especially in the North-East.
